Women's Empowerment International Foundation

Women's Empowerment International Foundation (WEIF) is devoted to instilling permanent, positive change in the most disadvantaged communities of Central and South Asia. Our multi-faceted approach to alleviating poverty and achieving gender equality includes increases access to quality education and health services, vocational training for young women, and infrastructural development in communities to ensure clean drinking water and safe and secure homes. WEIF partners with local NGOs in the communities where our projects are located to empower individuals to obtain the tools needed to change their lives and create better futures for their families.

In Pakistan, in addiction to the construction of several schools, WEIF has partnered with Women's Association for Advancement (WAFA)to assist women in their ascent out of poverty through micro-loans that enable them to establish and expand their own businesses. The Peer Lending program currently supports 307 talented and dedicated entrepreneurial women in business, with plans to expand their clientele and become a Credit Union bank in 2013.

WEIF's primary project in India is in cooperation with Girivanavasi Educational Trust (GVET) at the Nareshwadi Learning Centre near Mumbai. The Centre provides holistic education and health services to over 500 orphaned, abused, and underprivileged children. WEIF has lent support to expanding the educational infrastructure at the Centre and developing the surrounding communities from which these children hail. Community development initiatives include health seminars, wells to provide clean drinking water, the provision of agricultural assets and training for women, and certifying health care workers and Early Childhood Education teachers to serve these communities.
