The Children's Link Society was established in 1997 with the premise that parents of special needs children were the experts. These parents came with lots of experience and expertise that many other parents could benefit from. To this day at least 80% of the staff have a child with special needs or have had an adult with special needs in their home. The Children's Link Society provides one on one consultation with families either by phone, email or in a home visit. There is a variety of Coffee Socials for parents to share their stories and recieve support. The coffee socials include Grandparents raising their special needs grandchildren, Multicultural support and Transition to Adult coffees. There is a multicultural family link consultant that will assist families whose english is their second language navigate systems. Transition to adult services also has a family link consultant to support families as they move from children's services to adult services.
